I found this book referenced on the SLK Forum website that Id used when I was researching information on the SLK prior to buying one. Unfortunately I found this AFTER I'd already purchased the car. I bought the Kindle version but if one is interested in buying a SLK I'd recommend getting the hard copy as the tables and information are more readily accessible. My one complaint is that the Author is a bit too pro-Mercedes. The 280 engine had a serious manufacturing defect which caused very expensive engine repairs (a fact I'd learned independently and which caused me to avoid buying a car with that engine). While discussing the defect the Author refers to it dismissively. Later on, however, while discussing how to buy a SLK he states that he wouldn't buy one with that engine. So the reader might not appreciate the significance of that defect.
This book is excellent for any owner of a R171It is comprehensive and as a owner it's opinions are spot on.The book is up to the high standards of his other books and this one could be considered the SLK bibleIt also makes for a Good re-read and reference. Very well done
There is useful information in here and wonderful photos, but the writing is not the best. Perhaps it suffers from translation, or perhaps the author is simply someone who knows loads about SLKs but simply is not a born writer. It's still a useful book but a bit tedious to read. Maybe an aggressive editor would have helped.
Very detailed book and interesting to read , it is worth it to buy . I would recommend it to a friend.
