I have a few of her books, and love them all!There are many different breeds represented, some with their mommas, some on their own.All very beautifully illustrated in wonderful scenes including farms, by the lake, on a dock, under the Christmas tree and so much more. The designs are all realistic puppies/dogs in realistic scenes. Beautifully set to help you create some wonderful frame worthy pictures.They are detailed but not in a way that you will be overwhelmed with tiny areas to color. Perfect for both the advanced and novice colorist.There are 30 full pages to colour, along with a colorable cover page.Every designs is famed with a single line and none go into the binding.Each page is single sided making it great for you to take a page out and frame your masterpiece when you're done.Paper is medium weight, white, typical of Createspace published books.Markers will bleed through, I highly recommend putting some sheets of paper in between the pages to prevent bleed through.Gel pens can leave some shadowing.Coloured pencils work very well, both oil and wax based.This is by far my favorite coloring book with a dog theme. If you like dogs I highly recommend it.Would make the perfect gift for any dog lover.I've included a video flip though for you to see the pages in the book.

Bought this for a friend she loves it. The images are very cute and well drawn. The paper is good quality I have no complaints. It takes colored pencils well. This is a must have for all dog lovers

I’ve been coloring as a stress reliever for years, which means I was doing this long before the adult coloring books hit the shelves. I’m so glad I bought this book. Some of the pictures are a little more challenging for when you’re lookinh to escape for a while, and some are perfect for a quick way to wind down after work.

I purchased this for my mother-in-law who is beginning to suffer from dementia and needs both a distraction and a task to stay focused and happy. What I love about these images is that they are sufficiently detailed such that the artisan can add a lot of dimension to the image (especially with markers or colored pencils) if desired; however, at the same time, the images are not overly divided such that the images appear odd if colored simply. It was just what I was looking for.

Super cute, love that there are many different dogs to color!!

The printing is 50% gray not black like older Schirmer books. That's just unacceptable in music printing. Only useful for fingering suggestions.

This book is fantastic. It was interesting and thorough, with plenty of real life examples from the author's experience. In a way, it read like a novel because it was so well written but it gave so much factual information that it would be a real asset to anyone working in a library (or with the homeless, for that matter). I'm not even a librarian, although I worked in a large bookstore for many, many years and this book is top-notch.

If you read Starting Point, his collection of essays and interviews from 1979-1996, you'll love Turning Point. It follows the same format, showing translated articles from various interviews/essays/notes/sketches. It really helps to expand the understanding of the various films he's made and worked on. You get to read in his own words what he thinks of them, his inspirations, and low points, what he considered the best and the worst. There are also parts where he talks simply about his opinion on the state of the world, his interpretation of nature, films, animation, the conditions necessary to raise a child just to name a few.In short, if you want to have a more robust understanding of Miyazaki Hayao and where he's coming from, buy this book. After you read Starting Point of course. This is a continuation of that and it shows his growth as a person and animator. He's not perfect. He admits he has faults, that he's not the best person. But he's honest and true to his vision and someone I greatly respect for sticking to his beliefs.

Really enjoyed this book but I had issues with so many interviews being similar. So you end up reading the same questions and same responses repeatedly. I also thought it was naive of Miyazaki to grossly generalize people on quite a few occasions in the interviews. In several parts he pretty much says Americans could never understand some aspect of cinema because their movies are all about blowing stuff up and that's what they all enjoy. I mean there are variations of this kind of thing where he takes American POP CULTURE (ACK!) and uses it to generalize 300 million people. He does throw around other generalizations about Japan, Europe etc as well. Anyhow, I did get a lot of what I was hoping for too. You get a sense of where he got certain ideas for movies and why he made certain decisions in directing a film a certain way. You can get some of these ideas about Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. Anyways, it was very much like the previous book, "Starting Point" but this one (Turning Point) was mostly interviews, some poems, and a few essays or they might've been speeches. No articles that I can remember. There were chunks of content that could've been left out without losing anything. As I said, content is repeated in a few places. Far worse in the first half of the book. Worth reading for people who want more insight into this masterful director with the understanding that there are a few awkward and unrelated comments to take with a grain of salt.I still give it four stars because for good or bad, it's mostly what I wanted. And in the afterword, Miyazaki writes about how uncomfortable he was/is about the book. That he felt it misrepresented him or at least didn't identify fully with the book in some ways which is probably the nature of biographies. Views change and also generalizations fade when you're standing in front of someone shaking their hand. And besides, pretty much everyone is contrary at some point, and it's going to be especially obvious when interview after interview is documented like this.

It arrived on time and in great condition. If you are buying this I recommend you buy Starting Point first because this is the second book to that. This is a very good read and incredibly inspirational!

This book takes you through the wisdom and intellect of Hayao Miyazaki who wrote and animated some of the most important works of humanity. Some of these which include: Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Nausicaa of the valley of the wind.

Any book by Miyazaki is golden in my book. You will not be disappointed. This is another winner from Studio Ghibli and the publisher.

This was a gift for my husband. He isnt much of a reader, but he read the first Turning Point cover to cover, so I know he will love this one.
